relaxationRelaxation is important, no matter how old you are life can get stressful and when stress comes knocking you need to know how to slam the door in its face and relax. The first thing you have to do, before you think about trying to relax is to figure out what stresses you out. If you are in a difficult relationship, buried in school work or career work, or dead broke you need to know what is making you tick.

Put Your Stress on Hold

No matter what you find the most stressful, you need to know how to put it on hold when the time comes. Commit some of your time to relaxation only, turn off your phone for a night, lock your door, disconnect your internet, and dedicate the time to yourself. If you are in a stressful relationship, tell your girlfriend you are taking a mental health day. Explain what you are doing and make all the arrangements beforehand so that you have set aside some time without any worries, appointments, or expectations other than your own.

Plan Before the Time Comes to Relax

Thinking about how you are going to relieve your stress while you are getting rid of your stress is nothing but stressful. Really what this means is, a guy needs to have it all figured out before that time comes so that he doesn’t have to waste even a minute on thinking about what needs to be done. Think about where you are your happiest and plan your day accordingly. Try to avoid spending a lot of money if you don’t have the money to spend, you don’t want to make things any harder on yourself for your return to reality. If you need to call someone like a spa to make an appointment, then do so ahead of time and be ready to go the night before your free time arrives.

Even if you only have an hour to relax, make sure you plan so that your time doesn’t dwindle. Giving yourself a few extra minutes or hours is a good idea in case anything does come up.

Relax Your Mind

The best ways to relax are ways in which your mind can be completely clear. If you have access to a Jacuzzi that is a great way to get a piece of mind, just turn on some calming music and enjoy the warmth. If you don’t have access to a Jacuzzi, a bath is just as good as getting calmed down. If you have the funds, try getting a massage, this is the most relaxing thing you can experience and it will make a world of difference for your mind, body, and soul.

If you aren’t feeling the water or having someone else help you, try lying down and meditating. Most people think meditating means sitting with your legs crossed and chanting, but that isn’t the truth. Meditation is just setting aside quiet time to think. Some people enjoy listening to music while they simply let their mind wander. Giving yourself some time to process what is going on in your life is important, and can even help you problem solve without knowing it.

Relax Your Muscles and Body

In order to relax your muscles, you have to realize what they feel like tense. Tensing and contracting your whole body at once and releasing your muscles one by one is a great way to work towards relaxation. You may feel silly, but you should also breathe in and out and try and focus on each part of your body as it relaxes.

Doing some breathing and repeating this process can help your muscles a lot, so this is the perfect relaxation technique for after a workout.

Some things that can help you while you’re relaxing are music, candles, and fresh air. Choose what makes you feel the most calm, and go for it.
